The Laguiole en Aubrac is a modern incarnation of the classic Laguiole knife. The blade is made from Sandvik 12C27 steel. This is a popular stainless steel that is easy to sharpen. The handle is made from the exact composite material like the one Porsche automobile industry uses in its 1963 911 model.
The "Porsche 911", born in 1963, was originally designated as the "Porsche 901". As Peugeot protested on the ground that in France it had exclusive rights to car names formed by three numbers with a zero in the middle, Porsche changed the name to 911. This is not a true lock, merely some resistance to keep the knife from closing. When closing the knife, it's important that you carefully lower the blade into the handle. If you don't do this carefully, the blade may hit the inside of the handle, which could affect the sharpness of the blade.
Laguiole en Aubrac knives are made with love. The handle of this classic French pocket knife features the signature Laguiole bee. The spine of the blade, the spring on the back of the handle, and the liners are all beautifully decorated. This handmade pocket knife has a slender appearance. Because of the manual craftsmanship and the natural materials used, each pocket knife is unique.
Please be aware that materials like horn have natural variations. Therefore all the knives are unique, which is of course what makes them so special.
